Why I eat veg...

Why do I prefer to eat veggies and fruit?

Health: vegetarians have a lower risk of colon cancer and bowel cancers, reduced instances of Alzheimer's, lowered heart related diseases, lowered blood pressure and cholesterol.  Some of the noticeable changes: digestion less bloating, less gas better regularity.  Plus it has been said vegetarians have a glow about them that makes their skin radiant making it sexy......so I have read.

Environment: see "Livestock's Long Shadow" a 2006 report issued by the United Nations.  Livestock for food consumption generates more than 18% of the world's greenhouse gases.  It takes 2500 gallons of water just to raise and produce 1 pound of beef!  Yuck!  Not to mention all the wasted land and crops set aside to feed livestock.

Animals: we slaughter over 10 billion animals each year and that isn't even addressing the inhumane treatment.  A vegetarian diet can provide more food than trying to grow, raise, produce bigger livestock.  Even if you don't cut out meat altogether try 3 out of 7 days a week with no meat at any meal or snack.  If you choose to still eat meat go for the organic option, all those crazy hormones, steroids and antibiotics in the meat is not good.

Being vegetarian isn't easy just like being "green" isn't always the easiest or coolest choice but it is an amazing choice.  I have always felt better, looked better and maintained a healthy weight naturally.  It hasn't always been easy, I have fallen off the vegan wagon now and then but quickly jump back on.  If you choice 2 things it is go organic and at least eat vegetarian 3 days a week.

Peace, love and joy!
