Grillin' time!

I love me some grillin'!  I love everything about it, the smell, the idea it presents as family time, and of course saving me some energy by not using my stove or oven.  I do have some eco-friendly options because convention charcoal not only is bad for the air we breath but the food it is grilling.  I never got into the gas or propane grills I always noticed the food just did not taste as good.

Traditional charcoal releases twice as much carbon as a gas grill both put particulates into the air.  On those days we see air quality warning it is a combination of vehicles, lawnmowers, fire pits and backyard grills spewing carbon and particulates into the air.

Electric grills are the best but they do use energy.

Here are some better air quality options:
* use natural lump charcoal instead of briquettes
* use a charcoal chimney instead of lighter fluid it leaves a toxic residue on the food
* buy eco-friendly or natural charcoal

look for that label when buy charcoal and/or
both mean less deforestation, less greenhouse gas & soot emissions
which all equal a healthier grillin'

Eco-friendly charcoal helps because:
less air pollution
no endangered forests were cut
no unhealthy additives

Health reasons:
Grilling meat there are 2 types of cancer-causing compounds: heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).  The HCAs form on the surface of the meat and PAHs are from the fat dripping onto the hot charcoals which then release back up from the smoke.
