This could be the simplest thing you do besides changing light bulbs. There are so many items in your house that even when off they constantly drain energy, especially those items that say they are on standby! I have surge protectors throughout out the house but I have found I prefer this little handy dandy outlet switch protector instead. I have it plugged into outlets that have: coffee makers, appliances that do not need to remain on for food storage, toaster, Wii, TV etc. This little guy you can set on a timer on when to shut off or simply hit the on/off switch. You will not only save a ton in electricity bills but reduce your Carbon Footprint.
There are so many great varieties you guy buy today, it is really personal preference!
