Sunscreen

Sunscreen is a necessity for protecting yourself from early aging, terrible sleepless nights from a painful burn, and of course cancer.  Make sure when you slather up your skin, your partners skin and them kids of yours put the healthiest kind on you.  Your skin absorbs everything right into your system.  The chemicals in conventional sunscreen cause cancer and disrupt your hormones.

Do's and Don'ts:
  1. Avoid oxybenzone and retinyl palmitate (sometimes listed as vitamin A it actually speeds the development of cancer from the sun) ingredients
  2. Vitamin A should be reserved for your bed time cream only
  3. Pick creams and lotions over sprays and powders
  4. Minimize sun exposure from 10:00 to 4:00 when rays are strongest
  5. Reapply sunscreens at least every two hours, or after getting wet or sweaty
  6. Look for mineral protection from zinc oxide or titanium dioxide
You can download an app to your phone to use when at the store to look up the sunscreen you want to buy and see if it passes mustard with EWG. (environmental working group)
